The Journey at a Glance
This unique 4-day adventure combines life aboard the Aurora, a 60 ft Arctic-equipped expedition sailboat, with heliskiing on the dramatic Tröll Peninsula and guided ski touring supported by the experienced Aurora & Viking crew.
Onboard you’ll enjoy hearty, high-quality meals and comfortable amenities, but the trip is intentionally rugged rather than luxury — offering an authentic Arctic experience. The Viking crew handle bookings, ski touring, heliskiing and service on land while the boat crew takes care of you from A–Z while onboard the sailboat.
Each day typically includes two heliski runs plus one ski-touring ascent, with terrain that varies from long descents that finish at the Atlantic to traverses through remote alpine valleys. The mix of flexible ski touring and helicopter access to prime terrain is what sets this package apart. Additional runs can be added depending on conditions and participant preference.
Arrival Day
From the airport, a taxi with your name on it will be waiting to take you directly to Hótel Óðinsvé with early check in secured (if you are coming from the US). Here you spend the day & night exploring the culinary and artistic landscape of Reykjavik along with the thousand year old geothermal bathing tradition. Lunch & dinner suggestion: Snaps & Skál.
Day 1
Leaving the hotel at 07:00 for the domestic airport. You’ll arrive in Akureyri around 09:00, then drive about an hour to Siglufjörður with a stop at Organic Farm Syðra-Holt for a meal that will delight your taste buds. We’ll then board the Aurora in Siglufjörður harbour and do two heliskiing run for that day — and a warm-up skitouring action. At the end of the day Aurora will move into its night anchorage at Siglunes. Aperitifs & dinner onboard.
Day 2 - 3
At 10:00, after breakfast, we dinghy ashore for a beach drop-off; a helicopter will pick us up for the first heli run followed by skitouring action. After your first descent, we switch gears and skin up to the next summit for more adventure. After a scenic lunch break, the helicopter returns to pick you up for another unforgettable run. At day’s end the helicopter returns us to the same landing where we board Aurora after a unique sauna-tent experience with aperitifs and grilled treats. Dinner is served onboard.
Day 4
Last day of heliskiing and skitouring at the Tröll penensula.
Departure for the domestic evening flight to Reykjavík. Arrival at Hótel Óðinsvé expected in time for dinner. Restaurant suggestion Tíu Sopar.
